The 8.1 megapixel Samsung S860 features an f/2.8-5.3, 38mm-105mm (35mm equivalent) 3x zoom lens and a 2.4-inch, 230,000-dot LCD. The camera is powered by a pair of AA batteries. Made for snapshot photography, the new S-series camera offers a programmed automatic mode, a fully automatic mode, and 11 scene modes, with a shutter-speed range of 1/2000 to 8 seconds and a light-sensitivity range of ISO 80 to 1000. Among other notable features are spot metering, slow-sync flash, custom white balance, and adjustable sharpness. Their "E" button gives users direct access to color effects, redeye correction, and other image-adjustment controls. Other options include digital image stabilization, face-detection autofocus and autoexposure, built-in help, and a Self Portrait mode that prevents you from filling up your memory card with shots of your forehead because you can't see the LCD with the camera turned around. It uses face detection to prevent the camera from taking a shot unless your face is in the middle of the frame. The S860 captures smooth 640x480 Motion JPEG video with or without sound, and can also record audio only. It's notable that the camera's zoom can function while shooting video, although using it makes the audio recording cut out. Also notable is the ability to pause during video capture within a single clip.
