SanDisk has made this problem go away, with an innovative new technology, an SD card with a pop-up USB 2.0 connector built in. This SanDisk Combo SD/USB Memory Card turns a SD card into a USB memory device.
The device is deceptively simple: The SD card itself is hinged and split right in the middle. Folding the back half up 90 degrees exposes a flat, non-standard USB 2.0 connector, which can then slide into any standard USB port. The card even includes a tiny flashing LED light that blinks when it's accessed while inserted in a USB slot.
